Whispering Pines
I use photography as a way to connect to the stillness of life. Whispering Pines, a coptic stitch photobook, is a testament to a main theme of my personal practice, which is zeroing in on the mundane but beautiful things. The original poem included reads as follows:
As I step outside to frequent the business of life
The whispering pines remind me to stop and be still
To take a breath and frequent what is now
To listen to the morning bird sing
To watch the sun caress what came before me and what will be there after me
Nurturing it
The pines aren’t busy or in a hurry
Or waiting for the next season of life
They frequent the now
Their whisper reminds me
To stop and feel
The goodness
The ache
The praise
The apathy
And the gratitude
That I have now
